Arjuna, The Greatest Archer in All the Land

Arjuna is famous in Indian mythology.  He is the main character in the Bhagavad Gita, a story of how to act in the world.  It is considered one of the main texts of the Yoga tradition.  The central definition of Yoga in the Bhagavad Gita is, “skill in action.”  Long before the epic battle in the Bhagavad Gita takes place, Arjuna uses his superb archery skills to win the hand of the fairest princess in all the land.

In this practice you will safely and effectively build toward back bending postures while engaging the students with a delightful story.   This plan can also teach children about effort and commitment to excellence.   Backbends give us the energy and courage to excel.

This is an energizing practice. It is ideal both as an allegory and a physical practice for children ages 8 years old and up.  Modifications for children under age 7 are provided.   This plan is great for families, as is.
