Ayurveda is a traditional science of healing from India. It is thousands of years old and still practiced today. Ayurveda means “Knowledge of Life”. It is often referred to as the sister science to Yoga. According to Ayurveda, each one of us is made up of some unique combination of the 5 elements of nature – earth, water, fire, air and space. This individual combination is called our constitution, or “dosha”.
Understanding our own and another’s constitution, helps us better understand and better care for ourselves and others. It just so happens that Winnie the Pooh and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood beautifully illustrate the three main Ayurvedic doshas – kapha, pitta and vata.
Ideal for students ages 6 through 12. For teens, simply focus less on the “Pooh Bear” theme and more on the elements, which are appropriate for all ages.
